About Honda Engines
Honda engines are commonly used in non-Honda built equipment such as compressors, sod cutters, generators, plate compactors, pressure washers, sprayers, and other portable equipment. Many rental equipment manufacturers have relied on Honda GX engines for dependable, long running service. The general purpose GX series single cylinder overhead valve engine was first introduced in 1983 and is considered the backbone of their line.
This engine was very efficient then and required only minor modifications through the years to meet the current EPA emissions standards. Many people will recognize these engines if you have visited a rental yard, construction site or seen pest control, or commercial lawn care trucks driving by. This engine is used on many applications where a long life, easy starting engine is required. Innovation over the years has brought unique features to the GX engine such as electric start, automatic throttle, low oil alert, and high temperature shut off.
